I find it hard to part with anything and I'm always looking for utilitarian applications of "waste" material. The problem is this stuff is designed to be thrown away. It's shiny, catches the eye, and protects goods from elements during overseas transit (think China). Then it's into the trash. Packaging is a big business. Making packaging disposable maximizes short-term profits but with hidden long-term costs.
