Q: When is The RE Store open?

A: Store hours are from Monday - Saturday from 9-6 and Sundays from 10-5. We accept drop-off donations until 1 hour before close. Field crew services are available Monday - Friday. We will pickup on Saturdays for those who just absolutely can't be there during the week. The RE Store closes for national holidays and the day after Thanksgiving (International Buy Nothing Day).

Q: Where does The RE Store get all of this fantastic stuff?

A: We are constantly fishing the waste streams of Washington state for used building materials. Through bidding, contacting project managers, talking to people at home and garden shows, advertising, and most especially through word of mouth, we have a far-flung network of people who know the value of used building materials. We happily pick-up, salvage (remove ourselves), deconstruct (full dismantling), and accept drop-off donations from contractors, homeowners, businesses, property managers, demolition companies, and other urban waste fisherfolk.

Q: What materials does The RE Store accept?

A: You can refer to our A-Z page for what we do accept but please know that it is not comprehensive. It is easier to let you know what we don't accept by consulting our Moratorium list.

Q: Does The RE Store pay for materials?

A: The RE Store offers trade credit in exchange for materials from 10-25 percent of what we sell materials for or tax receipts for donated materials to our non-profit 501(c)3 organization. We will occasionally pay for salvage rights to larger projects.

Q: Is everyone at The RE Store a volunteer?

A: No, we employ over 30 people full time with benefits and up to 10 seasonal or part-time employees.

Q: Where is the bathroom?

A: Although one of our most asked questions, here is our online response...
Really though, you shouldn't miss the Seattle Store Lavatory Lounge

Q: How do I get my hands on the really prime items like French doors?

A: Come early, come often, and keep checking back. You can also sign up for the hotsheet email newsletter in the side bar for notifications on current highlighted materials, sales, workshops, events, and more.
