What is Recycled Art? Read our definition.
Read about the 2009 events that took place in three cities throughout Puget Sound in seven different press articles.
Our galleries and events were very successful, leaving many people inspired and amazed at how beautiful or thought-provoking trash can be:
- 4 galleries in 3 cities: Gallery details
- Two Trash Fashion Show extravaganzas were held in Seattle at the New York Fashion Academy on Friday, April 17th, and in Bellingham at the Wild Buffalo on Saturday, April 11th. These shows have been heralded as the best that the Pacific NW has seen yet! View the photo gallery with highlights from over the years.
- Recycled art workshops took place on April 18th with Bellingham sculptor, Thor Myhre and April 26th with Carol Oberton of the Bellingham Procession of the Species Parade. These sessions brought people together with junk from The RE Store, tools and supplies to help fasten it all together, and expert junk artists on hand to help.
- "Urban Alchemy" Saturday, April 25th - participatory art litter cleanup! Kuros Zahedi led a litter pick-up and temporary art installation made entirely from the litter we collected!

What is Recycled Art?
Recycled Art is made from anything that is fished out of the waste stream. The waste stream flows deep and wide from each American home and workplace, so materials are abundant. Recycled Art can be inspiring, poignant, useful, beautiful, impractical, wearable, hideous, humorous, or just downright trashy. What calls to you?
