What’s better than a gift you had a hand in making yourself?
Stop by to meet Eberhard Eichner, lead designer of our REvision Division, and James Taylor Designer/Builder for the Seattle store, as they show how to take the mystery and trickiness out of easy-to-make salvage holiday projects. Ask questions as they creates functional pieces right before your eyes - such as framed chalk boards, coat racks, serving trays and gift boxes. Take home instructions on how to make your own, or buy the samples they make that day!
Check out the REvision Division online, including free do-it-yourself videos and more photos here
Eberhard has spent 30 years as a professional finish carpenter, furniture builder/repairman, a long-time reuse practitioner and all around creative guy has prepared him perfectly for this role.
James came to the REvison Division by way of 10 years on our field crew where he removed materials and learned the trades in reverse. In his pieces, his aim is to be mindful of the craftsmanship that the first set of hands put into this piece of wood or metal.
Home Energy Savings Workshop
December 8th, 10am - Noon
Location: The RE Store, Seattle - 1440 NW 52nd, Ballard
Save Energy, Save Money
Due to popular demand, we are doing this session again!
How does a homeowner/renter decide what the most cost effective projects to save money/energy around the house are? Then how do they actually do it? We will talk about the how and why of various projects and how to decide what to do first. There will be hands on demonstrations of different types of weather stripping including the difference between open and closed cell foam, door sweeps and those tricky old double hung windows. Where and why vapor barriers are needed as well as insulation types will be covered too. Everything will be tailored to the specific sitiations the participants in the class are dealing with.
Lynn Johanson – a favorite RE Store regular - grew up in the construction trades and then became a Residential Energy Consultant with Seattle City Light. In her 7 years with the City she audited over 2,000 homes helping homeowners and tenants prioritize their spending and stop drafts. After becoming a parent she became a teacher and a salvage focused remodeler.
The workshop costs $10 (which includes a $5 coupon to the store)
