This years Art and Fashion Show was an epic event, April 18th at the New York Fashion Academy.
RE Store presented twenty-five Washington-based artists and fashionistas upcycling waste streams into art and culture. The sixth annual Recycled Art & Fashion Show returned to unofficially celebrate Seattle’s Zero Waste Resolution Number 30990. This event celebrated what a zero waste society looks, sounds and feels like with art, fashion and installations. The event featured zero waste catering and state of the art recycling stations thanks to Waste Management.
Councilmember Richard Conlin, who spearheaded the Zero Waste initiative, gave the opening address at the New York Fashion Academy to update our city on the development of zero waste initiative 30990. This was our way of celebrating and participating in a zero waste culture.
In the gallery, experience your trash through the installations of Robert Zverina, Bil Fleming and Mick Lorusso. Bil Fleming, a veteran of several Seattle Re Store shows who makes assemblage lamps from salvaged metal created an amazing "Human Powered Kinetic Sculpture" installation from salvaged bike wheels, wood, and plastic grocery bags titled, "What Comes Around Goes Around" or alternatively "Closed Loop with a Small Footprint."
Haute Trash Goddess, Rayona Visqueen, emceed the top urban miner designers on the coast, Friday, April 18th at 8:00pm to a sold out crowd of 300 people.

This year’s show is dedicated to the recent passage of the Zero Waste Resolution Number: 30990.
“Section 2. Waste-Reduction Strategies. The action strategies adopted to achieve City goals shall apply zero-waste principles. Zero-waste principles entail managing resources instead of waste; conserving natural resources through waste prevention and recycling; turning discarded resources into jobs and new products instead of trash; promoting products and materials that are durable and recyclable; and discouraging products and materials that can only become trash after their use.” http://www.seattle.gov/council/issues/zerowaste.htm
